Responsibilities
•Reports
to: Manager, Coding
•The
radiation oncology coder will be responsible to abstract orders, charges and
related diagnoses from radiation oncology records to ensure services billed are
consistent with the record documentation
•The
coder will ensure compliance with all the clinical billing and coding
regulations and will work with the faculty and staff to ensure accurate
documentation of billable services
•The
coder will determine and input appropriate ICD-10 CM and other codes for all
radiation therapy procedures and analyze and validate that all charges are
interfaced with the appropriate ICD10 and CPT codes
•The
coder will be become efficient with the record and verify system ARIA where
they will review the department daily charges for accuracy prior to interface
from ARIA to EPIC
•Is
always compassionate and empathetic for both patients and team members; makes
eye contact, smiles and or greets every individual using the individual’s name,
if known; treats all guests and co-workers with the utmost respect, dignity,
courtesy and respects their confidentiality; arrives to meetings on time; keeps

Qualifications
•Ability
to establish & maintain effective working relationships across the Health
System
•Must
demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
•Excellent
written and verbal communication skills in English
•Knowledge
of ICD-10 CM, CPT, HCPC and Modifiers coding conventions
•Must
be knowledgeable of the ASTRO and ACR policies and guidelines for coding and
documentation
•AHIMA
or AAPC credentials, certification for Radiation Oncology coding, and /or CPC
or CCS certification
•Experienced
in Radiation Oncology coding and billing modules
•Radiation
Oncology Certified Coder(ROCC), and/or additional Certified Outpatient Coder
(COC) or Certified Physician Coder (CPC)
•2-3
years of experience in radiation oncology coding/billing setting required
•Must
possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful
performance of assigned duties
•Knowledge
of anatomy and physiology, disease process and medical terminology
•Strong
interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with
a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
•Professional
and Hospital Coding experience
