Summary / Job Purpose
Reporting to the Corporate Director, Environment, Health and Safety, the EHS Advisor works collaboratively to implement the organization's health and safety programs in order to ensure a safe and healthy working environment for all. Candidate ensures that Bitumar plants in the United States remain in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. The EHS Advisor participates in the training of the Training, Procedure and Safety Coordinator and acts as a mentor.
Main Responsibilities
Environment, Health and Safety
- Support the development and implementation of the EHS Strategy.
- Participate development and implementation of best practices in health, safety, and environmental management;
- Stay up-to-date on the rules applicable to our industry at our sites in the United States to ensure compliance;
- Maintain up-to-date training program on health, safety and emergency measures in order to maintain competencies and comply with regulations. For some trainings, act as trainer;
- Participate in various committees, including joint health and safety committees;
- Perform safety walks at facilities to ensure they follow health and safety procedures, ensure compliance with recommendations to ascertain safe performance of work;
- Assist and advise plant managers in managing major emergency response and conduct the necessary investigation and analysis;
- Promote and coordinate various activities related to prevention;
- Track and support the execution of the annual EHS Action Plan;
- Accountable for managing EHS Documentation to include program design, EHS Data, Training Documentation and KPI reports;
- Act as a coach to Site Leaders to implement transformational change;
- Represents the company with regulatory authorities (OHSA, USCG, EPA);
- Perform any other related duties requested by the immediate supervisor or necessitated by his duties.
Education and Experience Requirements
- University degree in OHS, industrial relations, environmental sciences, or equivalent;
- Minimum of 7 years of practical experience in a similar position in the industrial sector or in a related manufacturing sector (e.g. beverages, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, etc.);
- Knowledge of environmental standards, health and safety regulations in the United States;
The candidate must be available for frequent trips to our plant at Douglasville, Georgia. (approximately 25% of the time).

Conditions
