🎯 Role Summary
Acts as Senior Network Architect/Engineer for the DOT TSMO Technology Program. Responsible for designing, building, securing, and maintaining performant IT and Operational Technology (OT) network infrastructures that integrate critical industrial infrastructure, transportation systems (e.g., traffic management centers), and ITS applications.
🛠️ Key Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Network Design & Architecture: Design, implement, and maintain secure IT/OT network infrastructures; plan for scalability, redundancy, and disaster recovery.
- Configuration & Implementation: Install and manage network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls, wireless APs, VPN concentrators). Configure IT protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF) and OT protocols (Modbus, DNP3, IEC 60870-5-101/104, Profinet, EtherNet/IP).
- IT/OT Convergence & Security: Bridge IT/OT networks, enforce NIST / ISA/IEC 62443 standards, deploy network segmentation, conduct vulnerability testing, and configure firewalls/IDS/IPS.
- Operations & Troubleshooting: Monitor network performance, resolve outages via root cause analysis, handle firmware/software updates, and manage network monitoring tools.
- Collaboration & Documentation: Work with business, technical, and security teams; maintain detailed network diagrams and documentation; provide technical support.

- IT/OT Network Design & Convergence (72 Months | Max 20 Pts): Experience designing, building, securing, and managing IT/OT networks, with IT/OT convergence challenges (preferably in the Transportation sector).
- OT Protocols & Data Processing (60 Months | Max 10 Pts): Experience in OT network protocols, cybersecurity threats, IT/OT convergence, and real-time data processing.
- Transportation Sector Technologies (60 Months | Max 10 Pts): Adaptive traffic signal control, safety/reliability standards, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), and Advanced Traffic Management Systems (ATMS).
- Operational Support & Incident Response (60 Months | Max 5 Pts): Operational support, incident response, and root cause analysis for IT/OT networks.
- Convergence Cybersecurity & Zero Trust (48 Months | Max 5 Pts): Layered security approaches, compliance with standards, and Zero-Trust architecture/implementation.
