Duties
- Supervise and coordinate all activities within the produce department, including stocking, merchandising, and quality control
- Manage inventory levels meticulously to minimize waste and optimize product availability
- Lead hiring, onboarding, training, and ongoing development of produce team members to foster a motivated and knowledgeable staff
- Implement pricing strategies and promotional displays to maximize sales and attract customers
- Oversee daily cash handling, POS transactions, and ensure compliance with store policies on cashiering and customer service
- Conduct regular safety inspections and uphold health standards in accordance with food safety regulations
- Collaborate with suppliers for purchasing, negotiating prices, and maintaining strong vendor relationships
- Monitor sales performance metrics to identify opportunities for growth and improvement in the produce department
Skills
- Extensive management experience within retail or grocery store environments, particularly in produce or perishable goods
- Strong leadership skills with proven ability to supervise teams effectively and communicate managerial expectations clearly
- Proficiency in inventory management systems, POS systems, and basic bookkeeping practices
- Excellent negotiation skills for purchasing and vendor negotiations
- Bilingual or multilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse customer bases
- Experience with employee orientation, training & development programs, and operational management practices
- Knowledge of retail math, pricing strategies, sales management, budgeting, and merchandising techniques
- Exceptional organizational skills with keen attention to detail in stock control and inventory accuracy
- Demonstrated ability to handle cash transactions accurately while providing outstanding customer service
- Strong communication skills suitable for team management, customer interactions, and cross-department collaboration
- Familiarity with grocery store product knowledge, shift management, retail sales strategies, and store operations
