The Role:
Bissette Construction is looking for an entry-level Assistant Civil Estimator to join our team in Chesapeake, VA.
This is an opportunity to learn the estimating and preconstruction side of the civil construction industry while working directly with experienced estimators, project managers, field teams, clients, and suppliers.
As an Assistant Civil Estimator, you will help turn civil construction plans into detailed takeoffs, 3D models, budgets, and competitive bids. You'll gain hands-on experience understanding how projects are designed, priced, planned, and ultimately built.
Responsibilities include:
- Reviewing civil construction plans, specifications, and project documents.
- Converting construction plans into 3D site models.
- Performing quantity takeoffs for earthwork, utilities, concrete, and other sitework.
- Assisting with project cost estimates and bid proposals.
- Researching project requirements, materials, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Evaluating project budgets, schedules, and constructability.
- Communicating with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Collaborating with estimators, project managers, and field personnel to help deliver successful projects.
