Electrician II

Overview

Designs, installs, and diagnoses a variety of electrical and electronic equipment. Writes programs for programmable controllers and installs electronic options on miscellaneous plant equipment; and is also responsible for obtaining electrical permits for the organization.

Responsibilities

• Designs and installs various circuits into new and existing equipment.
• Works with outside vendors on cost and availability of miscellaneous machine type controls and various hardware and software options.
• Troubleshoots and repairs circuit boards and other electronic components.
• Works from general instructions following standard electrical codes.
• Lays out wiring circuits for lighting, equipment, and communications facilities.
• Installs and maintains a wide variety of electrical equipment
• Troubleshoots machine and equipment using PLC’s
• Diagnoses and remedies any electrical troubles to avoid shutdowns of equipment.
• Checks and maintains proper supplies for electrical and electronic repairs and replacements.
• Coordinates electrical projects and repairs between electrical staff and customer.
• Obtain Electrical Permits from the City of Walker and coordinate site visits with City Inspectors.
• Modifies machine programs
• Writes basic programs using ladder logic and other tools
• May be required to perform other duties as assigned.
  
  

Qualifications

Equipment Used:

Meger, volt, ohm, and amp. meters, oscilloscope. Hand tools: meters and gauges for checking circuits and electrical components, robot teach pendants, programmable controllers and other electronic diagnostic equipment.

Unusual Conditions

Hazard - working with high voltage.

Available to provide on call weekend coverage per the established departmental practice.

Master electrician, PLC Control experience
