Bison Oil & Gas IV operates in the DJ Basin of Colorado and Wyoming. Bison has operated in the DJ since 2015 and currently operates over 300,000 net acres, 400 wells, and ~30,000 BOE of production per day. Summary:

The Reservoir Engineer is a key contributor to the planning, analysis, and optimization of reservoirs, helping to maximize production and asset value. This role combines technical expertise with collaboration across multidisciplinary teams to support safe, efficient, and sustainable operations.


Job Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

• Conduct well performance analysis to optimize production and development strategies.

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including geologists, drilling engineers, and production teams.

• Evaluate and recommend drilling and completion strategies for new well development.

• Build and maintain RTA models to support reservoir optimization efforts.

• Provide reservoir engineering expertise and perform economic evaluations to support the active drilling program.

• Evaluate reserves and the economic potential of asset acquisition opportunities within your area of responsibility.

• Contribute to the development of economic models that capture key issues for informed decision-making regarding development options.

• Support the process for reserve evaluations and bank determinations.

• Assist with the production nomination process for oil and gas sales.

• Utilize deterministic and probabilistic techniques in economic modeling to address development challenges (spacing, target interval, completion design, etc.).

• Support inventory management processes and help enhance analysis and reporting tools.

• Assist in budget and planning activities, including annual budgeting, portfolio planning, long-range plans, reserve forecasts, and business plans.

• Participate in team-based well reviews to identify production enhancement opportunities, document recommendations, implement changes, and post-audit results.

• Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously improve reservoir management practices.

• Promote a culture of safety, environmental responsibility, and ethical practices.

Education and Experience (required):

• Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering or a related field.

• 3 years of reservoir engineering experience

• Effective communication skills and proven ability to work well in a team environment.

• Proficiency in Access, ARIES, Excel, PowerPoint, Spotfire, and SQL; Python experience is a plus.

• Proficiency with Whitson software

• Strong attention to detail with the ability to complete tasks while considering all relevant factors; able to monitor and check work while organizing time and resources efficiently.

• Strong analytical ability, with the capacity to break down information into workable components, draw logical conclusions, anticipate obstacles, and approach decisions with sound reasoning.


Education and Experience (preferred):

• Master’s degree in Petroleum Engineering or a related field.

• 5 years of reservoir engineering experience with an operator

• Experience in the DJ Basin preferred.


Other Requirements: 

• Must be able to pass a pre-employment background screening

• Ability to legally work in the US without sponsorship 


Additional Information

Compensation: 

Our cash compensation amount for this role is targeted at $109,200-176,300 annually in this location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise and may vary from the amount listed above.

Location:

This position is located Denver, Colorado. Candidates currently residing in locations outside of daily commuting distance will be considered, however, it is the expectation that the selected individual will be available at the work location. No relocation or travel assistance will be provided by the Company for this position. 


Work Environment:

This position operates in an office environment. This entails working inside in an office space wherein employee may be provided a public work station (cubicle) or private office. From time to time, the role will require field visits where exposure to extreme weather conditions, fumes, airborne particles, vibrations, dust, electrical charges and other unforeseen exposures may be encountered. 


Physical Demands:

In the performance of the duties and responsibilities of this job, the employee is required to have visual acuity to operate a motor vehicle and view a computer terminal for prolonged periods of time. While at work sites, the employee will be expected to walk and stand. Individuals might be asked to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and/or crawl. Individuals might be required to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. in the performance of this position. 


Position Type and Working Hours:

This is a full-time position. We operate on a 9/80 work schedule. Typical work hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on working Fridays. Employee must be capable and willing to work overtime as required and to participate in occasional meetings, events, seminars, conferences, or other activities outside of typical work hours. Employees responsible for project operations are expected to monitor and, in some cases, respond to emails, calls, or texts outside of business hours.


Travel:

Occasional travel to work site locations may be expected. Overnight stays may be required from time to time for training, seminars, field visits, or visits to onsite locations.
