Job Summary
The Registered Dietitian (RD) provides professional medical nutrition therapy in a state healthcare facility, including assessment, diet planning, and ongoing nutritional management for patients with acute and rehabilitative needs. Under general supervision, the RD collaborates with physicians, nursing, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes through evidence-based nutrition care.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and implement therapeutic diets and menus for facility patients based on medical diagnoses and clinical status.
- Conduct comprehensive nutrition assessments using medical records, diet history, anthropometrics, and lab data.
- Develop, document, and adjust individualized nutrition care plans; provide patient and family nutrition counseling.
- Calculate BMI, weight ranges, and daily caloric, protein, fluid, and micronutrient requirements for assigned patients.
- Review and analyze menu nutrient content and recommend modifications to meet therapeutic and regulatory standards.
- Serve as a nutrition consultant to medical, nursing, and allied health staff, supporting care planning and education.
- Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record and uphold HIPAA and confidentiality standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in dietetics, nutrition, food/home economics, or closely related field from an accredited institution.
- Minimum 3 years of professional dietetics experience, including at least 1 year as a Registered Dietitian.
- Active licensure as a Registered Dietitian (RD) in applicable jurisdiction; eligibility to practice in Tennessee.
- Clinic or facility-based experience with acute and rehabilitative care populations.
- Strong skills in critical thinking, clinical judgment, interdisciplinary communication, and patient education.
- Proficiency with electronic medical records and basic computer literacy.

Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
