This position will work 8 hours per day and follows the school calendar.
Purpose Statement
The Child Nutrition Assistant Manager – Secondary Schools supports the Child Nutrition Manager II in overseeing food service operations at assigned locations. This position assists in ensuring the preparation and serving of meals, maintaining sanitary conditions, supporting documentation and ordering processes, and guiding personnel to ensure efficient and compliant operations. The Assistant Manager provides leadership for kitchen staff and serves as acting manager during absences of the Child Nutrition Manager II.

Supervisory Relationship
Reports to: Child Nutrition Manager II – Secondary Schools
Essential Functions
- Food Arrangement and Serving: Support the organization and serving of food and beverage items to students and staff efficiently. Assist in preparing and serving meals as needed.
- Inventory and Documentation: Assist with maintaining accurate monthly inventory. Help process inventory adjustments and receive and record deliveries into child nutrition software program. Support the completion of production records to ensure compliance with USDA requirements as requested by Manager.
- Ordering and Supply Coordination: Place and track weekly and schedule supply orders, including but not limited to:
- Cole Paper
- Milk
- À la carte beverages
- Bread
- Ensure supplies align with menu requirements and storage capacity
- Sanitation and Safety: Assist in maintaining equipment, storage, food preparation, and serving areas in sanitary condition in compliance with health and safety standards.
- Staff Guidance and Support: Provide daily workflow direction to kitchen staff. Assist with hands-on training and support the Manager with coaching and crucial conversations to foster a positive and respectful working environment.
- Special Diet and Compliance Support: Demonstrate an advanced understanding of special diet requirements and assist with accommodations to ensure compliance with USDA and district standards.
- Operational Coverage: Serve as acting Child Nutrition Manager II during absences. Provide support with deliveries and maintain kitchen coverage during high-volume or delivery times.
- Professional Development: Participate in meetings, training, and in-service opportunities to maintain compliance and improve performance, as requested.
- Adherence to School Policies: Follow school district policies, procedures, and Child Nutrition program guidelines.
- Attendance: This position requires prompt and consistent attendance.
- Perform Other Duties: Perform functions of other kitchen positions as needed to ensure adequate staff coverage.
