The Assistant Teacher Instructional Coach supports the professional growth and effectiveness of assistant teachers within the Head Start program. This position provides mentoring, modeling, observation, and feedback to improve classroom instruction, child outcomes, school readiness, and compliance with Head Start Performance Standards.
Depending on preference and availability, this position could be Part-Time (20 hours/week) or Full-Time (40 hours/week)

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Coaching & Professional Development
- Provide individualized coaching to teaching assistants and classroom staff
- Conduct classroom observations and give constructive feedback
- Model effective teaching strategies and classroom management techniques
- Support implementation of curriculum and lesson planning
- Assist staff in setting professional development goals
- Facilitate training sessions, workshops, and peer learning opportunities
- Ensure classrooms maintain developmentally appropriate practices
- Support positive behavior guidance and social-emotional learning
- Help staff create engaging learning environments
- Promote inclusive practices for children with disabilities and dual-language learners
- Monitor classroom routines, transitions, and interactions
- Support compliance with Office of Head Start regulations and program standards
- Assist with CLASS observations, assessments, and school readiness goals
- Maintain coaching documentation and reports
- Participate in program monitoring and quality improvement efforts
- Help ensure health, safety, and licensing requirements are followed
- Work closely with education managers, teachers, family advocates, and administrators
- Participate in staff meetings and interdisciplinary teams
- Build positive relationships with families and community partners
- Support family engagement activities when needed
- Bachelor’s degree in:
- Early Childhood Education
- Child Development
- Education
- Related field
Preferred Skills
- Coaching or mentoring experience
- Experience in preschool or Head Start classrooms
- Knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards
- Knowledge of trauma-informed practices
- Familiarity with CLASS & other observation tools
- Bilingual abilities
- Strong organizational and data-tracking skills
- Experience supporting diverse learners
