Bismarck Parks and Recreation District Recreation Specialist Job Announcement
As a Recreation Specialist with Bismarck Parks and Recreation District (BPRD), you will work closely with the after school program (BLAST), create and implement special events for the community and assist with the summer programming known as Activity Center. You will impact people throughout the community, school-age children and young employees with BPRD. Each day will be different as you learn and grow your knowledge, skills and abilities in a wide variety of settings.
To thrive in this position, you must have methods for organizing, coordinating, and supervising a variety of recreation programs, organizational and conflict resolution skills, the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, manage multiple tasks and duties, establish and maintain effective working relationships with District personnel, groups, associates, agencies, and individuals; and be able to pass a background check and drug/alcohol screening.
We will be screening application materials for these minimum qualifications: A bachelor’s degree in parks and recreation or a related field, with an emphasis in administration, community recreation, or education with a minimum of one year full-time or two years’ part-time experience in planning, coordinating, and supervising a variety of recreation programs and special events, a valid driver’s license and the ability to lift and carry objects up to 30 pounds or heavier lifting with other employees. Preferred qualifications include additional education in a field related to the job description, and/or additional experience related to the job description (for example youth sports, programming, supervision of employees, coordinating elementary school activities, before or after school programs and special event coordination) or other position related certifications.
The starting bi-weekly salary range is $2,308-$2,408 and will include the comprehensive full-time employee benefits of the Bismarck Parks and Recreation District.
