What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part Time Grounds Keeper position at Bismarck, City of (ND)?
Performs a variety of work related to planting, maintenance and watering of trees. Including, but not limited to: watering, weeding, mulch installation, day-to-day grounds maintenance, general landscaping activities, and repairing irrigation systems. Duties may also include operating a brush clipper, driving pick-up trucks, maintenance equipment, minor pruning, and operating chainsaws under supervision. Additional duties may include: manual labor such as collecting garbage, picking paper, mowing, trimming. You may be expected to clean vehicles (inside and out), painting and cleaning cabinets, repairing irrigation systems, assist in locating and repairing underground faults, and general maintenance.
- Operation of lawn tractors and self-propelled turf mowers.
- Planting, maintaining and removing trees.
- Watering, weeding, mulch installation, day-to-day grounds maintenance.
- Assists in locating and repairing underground faults.
- General landscaping activities and repairing irrigation systems.
- Operation of weed trimmers and hand tools.
- Participates in snow removal operations as needed.
- Documenting work performed.
- Performs other duties of comparable level/type as required.
- Ability to read, write, and preform basic mathematical calculations.
- Two years' experience preferred in related field.
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of North Dakota for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
- Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. City of Bismarck does not provide visa sponsorship for this position.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to exercise judgment regarding work to be done.
- Basic computer knowledge and skills.
- Knowledge of safety standards and practices.
- Skills in the operation of applicable hand and mechanical tools and related equipment.
