This position is responsible operating equipment along an assigned route to collect solid waste.• Operates a garbage truck along an assigned route to collect and transport solid waste.
• Performs equipment safety inspections; performs minor equipment maintenance; notifies supervisors of maintenance or repair needs.
• Collects litter on city right-of-way.
• Paints and repairs dumpsters.
• Supervises the work of assigned Waste Service Workers.
• Performs related duties.• Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.
• Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
• Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of North Dakota for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
• Knowledge of department and city policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of city streets and geography.
• Knowledge of equipment operation and maintenance principles.
• Knowledge of hazardous waste identification principles.
• Skill in planning, organization, and decision making.
• Skill in the supervision of personnel.

• Skill in providing customer services.

Salary : $47,875 - $53,860
