Description
Bishop McNamara High School has an opening to join the Student Support team. This is a full-time faculty position, supporting students to improve their study skills and academic performance by helping them access resources and intervention strategies. You would be supported by a collaborative team of experienced teachers and mentors.

Requirements
Support students to better improve their study skills and academic performance.
- Run supported, supervised study sessions in small groups or one-on-one for students with academic needs during, before, and after school
- Meet regularly with students on the assigned caseload and accurately keep records of student meetings
- Share meaningful resources and strategies with students on your caseload and the team
- Collaborate directly with counselors, teachers, families, and administration to work to support student success
- Host at least one family engagement meeting per year on a topic that is comfortable or expert to you or someone you know. These events involve exposing families and students to data-supported intervention practices linked to increasing academic achievement.
- Proctor standardized and accommodated assessments in the testing room
Minimum:
- Bachelor's degree
- Commitment to development of the whole student, including well-being and character, in alignment with the Holy Cross tradition of education
Preferred:
- Experience teaching or working with high school students who need intervention strategies to increase academic performance
- Degree in special education, or related fields
- Experience using technology to extend and enhance learning (G Suite) in a 1:1 BYOD environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to enter data into a computer; to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels, outdoors, and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal classrooms, outdoors, and on the telephone; physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds; to bend, stoop, climb stairs, and reach overhead.

LOCATION/TRAVEL:
While Bishop McNamara High School is located in Forestville, MD, you may live anywhere in the surrounding region, but be willing to make any commute to the school.
