Bishop Loughlin is a co-educational, college preparatory, Lasallian high school in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. Founded in 1851, we serve 535 students, with a 99% graduation rate and 97% pursuing higher education. The Opportunity
Reporting to the Vice President for Institutional Advancement, the Director of Individual Giving is an individual contributor who will lead the Annual Fund and Named Scholarship Program, manage a mid-level donor portfolio (mostly in the $500–$5,000 annual support range), develop fundraising strategies, and conduct prospect research to grow annual support and build the pipeline for major gifts and scholarships.
You’ll collaborate closely with our VP, Database Manager and our Director of Alumni Relations and Events; no supervisory responsibilities.
What You’ll Do
Lead the Annual Fund
o Plan and execute a multi-channel Annual Fund with year-over-year growth in revenue and participation.
o Create segmented strategies for alumni (including legacy schools), parents, faculty/staff, and friends.
o Coordinate emails, direct mail, social, texting, phone, and giving days.
Manage the Named Scholarship Program
o Steward named scholarship donors (most of whom are major donors); connect donors with the students they support.
o Coordinate student matches, impact reporting, acknowledgments, and recognition.
Manage a Mid-Level Portfolio ($1,000–$5,000)
o Maintain a personal portfolio of approximately 125–175 donors/lybunts/prospects.
o Conduct outreach and meetings; craft tailored asks; meet reasonable activity goals.
Prospect Research and Pipeline
o Identify, qualify, and rate prospects; surface major gift leads to the VP.
o Maintain accurate contact reports and data hygiene to support pipeline visibility.
Communications and Stewardship
o Draft compelling appeals, cases, and stewardship updates.
o Coordinate timely acknowledgments, pledge reminders, and recognition for Annual Fund donors (with Database Manager).
Planning, Data, and Collaboration
o Test and optimize segmentation and messaging.
o Partner with the Database Manager on lists, tracking, dashboards, and reporting.
o Leverage alumni and events touchpoints with the VP, Director of Alumni Relations and Events for cultivation.
Who You Are
· 3–5 years in individual giving, annual fund, or related roles (education/nonprofit preferred).
· Persuasive communicator and relationship-builder.
· Data-informed, organized, and goal-oriented; effective in a small, collaborative office.
· Committed to Loughlin’s mission of access to excellent, college preparatory education.
Required Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree (Master’s a plus).
· Proven success in individual giving, portfolio management, annual fund strategy, and prospect research.
· Proficiency with donor databases and Microsoft Office; comfort with analytics and reporting.
· Willingness and ability to travel.
Compensation and Benefits
Full-time, in-person in Fort Greene with potential flexibility for one remote day per week. Salary: $75,000–$95,000, commensurate with experience. Competitive benefits.
