Job Summary
Bishop Garcia Diego High School seeks a talented faculty member who will put students first, strive to educate the entire person, and who models the school's Core Values of Compassion, Perseverance, and Respect. The most successful candidates see opportunities before problems, confidently adjust and tailor their instructional approaches to student needs, and aspire to deliver an instructional experience that is rigorous and relevant. Key responsibilities include: Curriculum development: Creating lesson plans aligned with state standards, incorporating diverse teaching methods to engage students in all aspects of language learning (speaking, listening, reading, writing). Instruction delivery: Teaching vocabulary, grammar rules, pronunciation, and sentence structure through interactive activities, discussions, role-playing, and multimedia presentations. Cultural immersion: Integrating Spanish culture through literature, music, film, and current events to provide context for language learning. Assessment and evaluation: Regularly assessing student progress through quizzes, tests, projects, presentations, and classroom participation to identify strengths and weaknesses. Individualized learning: Providing support and differentiated instruction for students with varying learning styles and abilities. Classroom management: Maintaining a positive learning environment, managing student behavior, and fostering a collaborative atmosphere. Communication: Collaborating with colleagues, administrators, and parents to discuss student progress and address concerns. The successful candidate will be capable of teaching all levels with a load of approximately 80 students in five sections.
Requirements / Qualifications
Required Qualifications: The successful candidate must possess a State of California issued teaching certificate. Candidates with a Bachelor’s, Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Spanish with teaching experience may be considered. Ability to lead one or more co-curricular activities is desirable. Minimum of five years teaching experience preferred, however, candidates with less experience may be considered.
