Bishop Dunne Catholic School is seeking a Part-Time Assistant Football Coach for the 2026-2027 academic year.
The Assistant Football Coach will support the Head Coach in developing a competitive football program within the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS), while prioritizing faith formation, academic excellence, and strong character in student-athletes.
Responsibilities include:
- Assist the Head Coach with scheduling, organization, and team management
- Contribute to the continued growth and competitiveness of the football program
- Model Catholic values and uphold the teachings of the Church
- Promote a culture aligned with Bishop Dunne’s core values: Purpose, Respect, Integrity, Dedication, and Excellence
- Promote academic accountability consistent with Bishop Dunne standards
- Mentor student-athletes in leadership, discipline, and character development
- Encourage spiritual growth through team prayer, reflection, and service opportunities
- Collaborate effectively with student-athletes, faculty, parents, alumni, and administrators
- Communicate clearly and effectively in all interactions
- Supervise student-athletes and volunteers at all team functions (practices, games, travel, meetings, etc.)
- Prioritize student-athlete safety and well-being at all times
- Implement proper training techniques and injury prevention strategies
- Provide basic care for minor injuries and execute emergency action plans when necessary
- Attend Athletic Department training and maintain all required certifications, including:
- TAPPS S.C.O.P.E. training
- First Aid/CPR certification
- Safe Environment Training
- Represent Bishop Dunne professionally at TAPPS meetings and events
- Positively promote the football program within the Bishop Dunne and greater Dallas community
- Assist with school-wide initiatives, including admissions and athletic program promotion
- Support college recruitment efforts and student-athlete exposure when appropriate
- Be available for evenings, weekends, and travel during the football season
Education/Experience Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of experience as an assistant football coach
- Playing experience at the high school level or higher preferred
- Strong knowledge of football, including training and conditioning methods and the ability to assess and develop player performance
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Familiarity with or willingness to learn TAPPS regulations and competition structure
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship
- Must successfully pass a background check and comply with the Diocese of Dallas Safe Environment Program.
