Head Wrestling Coach

Bishop Dunne Catholic School provides a model college preparatory Catholic education with technology integration in a diverse school environment. We are seeking a Head Wrestling Coach who can effectively communicate the vision and mission of Bishop Dunne Catholic School’s wrestling program. The ideal candidate will be a positive role model with previous high school coaching experience and extensive knowledge of the sport of wrestling.   

General Responsibilities:

• The Head Wrestling Coach is responsible for all facets of conducting a competitive wrestling program
• Directs and coordinates the planning, organizing, and coaching of Bishop Dunne Catholic school’s wrestling program
• Provides leadership and instruction in the personal and athletic development of our student-athletes
• Coaching during practice and competition
• Coordinates with the CFO in the preparation of the wrestling program budget
• Supervises and evaluates assistant coaches and staff
• Upholds and promotes the Catholic mission of Bishop Dunne Catholic School
• Promotes Falcon wrestling in the public
• Maintains up-to-date knowledge of all TAPPS, DPL and NCAA rules and regulations
• Develops and organizes camps and clinics
• Implements fundraising initiatives in conjunction with the advancement director
• Analyzes match film and develops strategies to win in competition.

Essential Functions:

• Administer all facets of the wrestling program
• Coaching during practice and competition
• Supervision and management of assistant coaches and staff
• Under the guidance of the director of athletics, administration of wrestling program budget
• Formulating and implementation of pre- and post-season conditioning programs
• Monitor the academic success of our student-athletes
• Represent Bishop Dunne Catholic School in the public and at school events
• Have a clear commitment to a tradition of athletics and academic success for Bishop Dunne student-athletes
• Actively engage student athletes in volunteer activities within the community that reflect Bishop Dunne's Catholic identity

Education/Experience Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university preferred
• A minimum of 3 years of previous coaching experience at a secondary or higher level
• Strong interpersonal communication skills and solid technology skills for use in instructional and professional tasks
• Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences: students, parents, coaches, faculty, alumni, and administrators
• Technical knowledge of the sport of wrestling
• Strong administrative, organizational, and motivational skills
• Knowledge of TAPPS, DPL, UIL, and NCAA rules
• Familiarity with the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS)
• Demonstrated record of working collaboratively with administration
• Demonstrated record of providing positive leadership
• Valid driver’s license required
• Must be currently authorized to work in the United States
• Must be able to pass a background check and comply with the Diocese of Dallas Safe Environment Program
