What are the responsibilities and job description for the Head Wrestling Coach position at Bishop Dunne Catholic School?
Bishop Dunne Catholic School provides a model college preparatory Catholic education with technology integration in a diverse school environment. We are seeking a Head Wrestling Coach who can effectively communicate the vision and mission of Bishop Dunne Catholic School’s wrestling program. The ideal candidate will be a positive role model with previous high school coaching experience and extensive knowledge of the sport of wrestling.
General Responsibilities:
- The Head Wrestling Coach is responsible for all facets of conducting a competitive wrestling program
- Directs and coordinates the planning, organizing, and coaching of Bishop Dunne Catholic school’s wrestling program
- Provides leadership and instruction in the personal and athletic development of our student-athletes
- Coaching during practice and competition
- Coordinates with the CFO in the preparation of the wrestling program budget
- Supervises and evaluates assistant coaches and staff
- Upholds and promotes the Catholic mission of Bishop Dunne Catholic School
- Promotes Falcon wrestling in the public
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of all TAPPS, DPL and NCAA rules and regulations
- Develops and organizes camps and clinics
- Implements fundraising initiatives in conjunction with the advancement director
- Analyzes match film and develops strategies to win in competition.
Essential Functions:
- Administer all facets of the wrestling program
- Coaching during practice and competition
- Supervision and management of assistant coaches and staff
- Under the guidance of the director of athletics, administration of wrestling program budget
- Formulating and implementation of pre- and post-season conditioning programs
- Monitor the academic success of our student-athletes
- Represent Bishop Dunne Catholic School in the public and at school events
- Have a clear commitment to a tradition of athletics and academic success for Bishop Dunne student-athletes
- Actively engage student athletes in volunteer activities within the community that reflect Bishop Dunne's Catholic identity
Education/Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university preferred
- A minimum of 3 years of previous coaching experience at a secondary or higher level
- Strong interpersonal communication skills and solid technology skills for use in instructional and professional tasks
- Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences: students, parents, coaches, faculty, alumni, and administrators
- Technical knowledge of the sport of wrestling
- Strong administrative, organizational, and motivational skills
- Knowledge of TAPPS, DPL, UIL, and NCAA rules
- Familiarity with the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS)
- Demonstrated record of working collaboratively with administration
- Demonstrated record of providing positive leadership
- Valid driver’s license required
- Must be currently authorized to work in the United States
- Must be able to pass a background check and comply with the Diocese of Dallas Safe Environment Program
