High School Math Instructor

Primary Duties:

The Math Instructor is responsible for delivering high quality instruction and contributing to a coherent, standards aligned mathematics program. This includes designing and implementing engaging lessons, assessing student learning, and providing targeted support to meet the needs of all students.

The teaching load consists of five sections of mathematics courses. Bishop Alemany High School is expanding and hiring multiple Math Instructors, and teaching assignments may include a combination of courses such as Algebra II, Geometry, Honors Geometry, Statistics, AP Statistics, Financial Literacy, Calculus, and AP Calculus, based on department needs and the candidate’s experience.

The instructor will collaborate with colleagues to ensure alignment across courses, support student growth through clear and consistent expectations, and contribute to a positive and academically focused classroom environment.


Description of Position:

A Mathematics Instructor is part of the Mathematics Department that reports to the Mathematics Department Chair, and the school’s administrative team (President, Principal and Assistant Principals).

Essential Job Functions:

  • Teaching courses within the Math Department
  • Create an environment in the classroom and in all areas of co-curricular responsibility that nurtures the development of faith, integrity, and truth.
  • Design and implement regular formative and summative assessments to measure student learning.
  • Proficiency in curriculum planning, instruction, and assessment.
  • Be an active member of our Catholic school community by participating in religious events (Masses, retreats, days of recollection, penance services, etc.) and non-religious events like athletics, performances, rallies, etc.
  • Chaperone and supervise during the school day and some evenings and weekends.
  • Meet with students and parents as necessary before and after school.

Requirements/Education and Qualifications:

  • B.A. in related field is required; Master’s degree or Teaching Credential preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience teaching is required; Catholic high school preferred
  • Strong rapport with students while maintaining healthy boundaries and strong classroom management skills
  • Sensitivity and understanding of a multi-ethnic and faith campus

The selected candidate must pass an employment background check and all required training and certifications. Compensation for this position is based on policy and budget. We consider a number of factors including, but not limited to, skills set, experience, training and department needs.

Wage Range (50,000-80,000)

The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
