Biscayne Lady Yacht Charters is seeking a U.S. Coast Guard 100-Ton Licensed Yacht Captain to join our elite team. As South Florida’s leading luxury yacht charter service, we operate two state-of-the-art vessels over 100 feet in length, hosting high-end events from prestigious locations such as:
- Bayside Marketplace
- Fontainebleau and Eden Roc Miami Beach
- Fort Lauderdale
- Boca Raton
- Palm Beach
Our vessels have been featured in top-tier events like Ultra Music Festival, Miami International Boat Show, Super Bowl LIV, and the Winterfest Boat Parade.
Job Summary
The Captain is the sole officer of the navigational watch and is fully responsible for the safety of the vessel, passengers, and crew. You’ll ensure the vessel and all required safety systems are operational and that the crew is trained in all emergency and operational protocols.
Reports To: Operations Manager, Port Captain
Key Responsibilities
Vessel Operations
- Operate the vessel in accordance with the company’s charter schedule and USCG regulations
- Supervise crew and ensure guest satisfaction during every voyage
- Conduct pre-shift prep, safety checks, and crew briefings
- Monitor and maintain all ship systems:
- Gangways
- Diesel, hydraulic, and electrical systems
- Water systems (potable, raw, black, gray)
- Fire suppression, communications, and navigation equipment
- Participate in mandatory safety drills and crew training
- Navigate to and from various docks safely and efficiently
- Maintain operational logs, payroll, and safety records
- Report any maintenance or safety issues promptly
- Support additional projects as assigned by management
Guest Service
- Ensure a high standard of guest service is maintained by all crew members
- Oversee cleanliness and readiness of all passenger areas
Administration
- Complete all shift-related documentation accurately and on time
- Assist with crew training, safety procedures, and vessel upkeep
- Attend mandatory meetings and briefings
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
- USCG 100 GT Master License with a clean record
- Minimum 5 years of marine experience, with at least 3 years as a captain
- In-depth knowledge of marine systems and vessel operations
- Familiarity with Miami-area waterways is required
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage guest interactions with diplomacy and professionalism
- Must pass a comprehensive background check
- Per DOT regulations, must undergo pre-employment and random drug/alcohol testing
- U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency required per USCG regulations
Working Conditions
- Outdoor work in various weather conditions
- Must be able to stand for up to 8 hours per shift
- Must be able to carry a 5-gallon oil bucket up and down a ladder
- Flexible schedule: nights, weekends, and holidays required
