Position Summary

Birth Tissue Recovery is seeking a focused and highly detail-oriented individual to join our team in Hickory and Greensboro, NC as a Coordinator Support Associate. This role is fast-paced, autonomous, demanding, and highly rewarding, requiring someone who thrives both independently and as part of a team. CSAs support the daily function of our lab and donation program and must be able to adapt quickly, take feedback constructively, and apply it immediately. CSAs oversee day-to-day lab management, including maintaining supply inventory, organizing the workspace, and ensuring that all routine laboratory checks are completed accurately and on schedule. They will also handle human tissue and perform tissue evaluations as part of regulated wet-lab procedures. CSAs must uphold sterility and cleanliness, and follow SOPs and WIs with precision, consistently meeting required timelines. Candidates must be able to work weekends and must also be able to spend two weeks in Winston-Salem, N.C., for hands-on training.


 Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day lab management.
  • Maintain supply inventory and ensure the workspace is organized and fully stocked.
  • Ensure all routine laboratory checks are completed accurately and on schedule.
  • Handle human tissue and perform tissue evaluations as part of regulated wet-lab procedures.
  • Maintain strict sterility, cleanliness, and adherence to all SOPs and WIs.
  • Perform tasks regulated by AATB, FDA, and state/federal agencies.
  • Support Placenta Donation Coordinators (PDCs) as needed.
  • Obtain blood specimens from hospital staff and maintain chain-of-custody.
  • Collect and document pertinent patient medical records.
  • Perform aseptic placenta tissue acquisition procedures.
  • Label, package, and ship tissue and lab specimens.
  • Complete accurate, timely documentation of all activities.
  • Review records and forms for accuracy and completeness.
  • Record and maintain temperature logs.
  • Clean and maintain laboratory equipment.
  • Assist with facility maintenance, tissue storage, inventory management, and supply restocking.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members, while also working confidently and independently.
  • Accept feedback constructively and apply it immediately.


Requirements

  • Two years of clinical experience (CST, RN, CTBS, etc.) OR equivalent tissue banking experience OR an associate degree in Life Sciences, Biology, Nursing, or a related field (preferred).
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology and good documentation practices.
  • Ability to perform aseptic tissue acquisition procedures.
  • Must work well under pressure without compromising quality or compliance.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and bedside manner.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with patients and hospital staff.
  • Must thrive in both team-oriented and independent environments.
  • Must be able to work weekends.
  • Must spend two weeks in Winston-Salem, N.C., for training.
  • Must pass background and reference checks, drug screening, and periodic unannounced re-testing.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation.
