Reports to: Superintendent / Assistant Superintendent
Supervises: None
Position Overview
The Greenkeeper is responsible for performing a variety of tasks involved in the maintenance, upkeep, and overall condition of the golf course and surrounding grounds. This position plays a key role in ensuring top-quality playing conditions by supporting daily mowing, trimming, bunker raking, and other cultural practices as directed by the Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily mowing of greens, tees, fairways, and roughs using walk-behind and riding mowers.
- Rake and maintain bunkers to consistent standards.
- Edge, trim, and blow debris from turf and landscaped areas.
- Assist with course set-up including tee markers, hole locations, and hazard marking.
- Operate small equipment including utility vehicles, blowers, and trimmers.
- Perform sod installation, seeding, topdressing, aerification, and other turf cultural practices.
- Assist with irrigation setup, hand watering, and minor repairs.
- Maintain tools and equipment in clean and safe working condition.
- Follow all safety guidelines and wear required PPE as needed.
- Report any issues or abnormalities to supervisory staff promptly.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous experience in golf course or landscape maintenance a plus, but not required.
- Ability to safely operate small machinery and hand tools.
- Willingness to learn and follow instructions.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
