Supervises: Personal Trainers, Group Fitness Instructors

Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, or related field required; Master’s preferred
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in a health and fitness facility preferred
- At least two (2) years of fitness facility or program management experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Core Competencies
- Comprehensive knowledge of fitness and wellness principles
- Ability to design and implement fitness programs
- Skilled in conducting fitness assessments
- Ability to instruct cardiovascular, resistance, and mind-body classes
- Knowledge of First Aid, CPR, and AED usage
- Ability to respond effectively in emergency situations
Job Summary / Essential Functions
The Fitness Director is responsible for developing, organizing, and overseeing comprehensive fitness programs for members of varying ages, health conditions, and activity levels. This role manages all fitness staff and facilities, promotes participation in programs, and remains current with industry trends.
Key Responsibilities – General Operations
- Ensures member satisfaction and safety in all fitness areas
- Engages regularly with members and addresses concerns
- Provides Fitness Reports at management and committee meetings
- Collaborates with other departments to enhance member services
- Writes monthly fitness-related newsletter content
- Enforces Club policies and safety procedures
- Conducts member satisfaction surveys
- Works with General Manager and Athletic Director of special projects
- Works with Athletic Committee Chair
Training & Programming
- Provides personal training and teaches classes as needed
- Conducts fitness evaluations and equipment orientations
- Develops new classes and specialty fitness programs
- Offers workshops and complimentary classes as appropriate
Staff Management & Administration
- Recruits, hires, schedules, and supervises fitness staff and contractors
- Oversees fitness billing and reconciliation with Accounting
- Prepares payroll, scheduling, and staffing reports
- Ensures staff maintain certifications and complete required training
Facility & Equipment Oversight
- Coordinates with Housekeeping and Maintenance for cleanliness and repairs
- Oversees preventive maintenance and equipment safety
- Advises leadership on capital equipment needs and installations
- Coordinates CPR/AED training
Licenses and Certifications
- ACSM, NSCA, NASM, or equivalent certification
- Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certification
Physical Demands
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, lift, and demonstrate exercises
- Ability to respond to emergency situations
Salary : $36 - $41
