General Maintenance Manager

Classification: Exempt

Summary: The Maintenance Manager oversees the maintenance and repair of production equipment, machinery, and facilities to ensure safe and efficient operation. This position combines strong technical knowledge with hands-on leadership and coordination skills. The ideal candidate has a solid understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, with proven experience leading maintenance personnel in a manufacturing environment.

The Maintenance Manager will plan, prioritize, and delegate work assignments; manage preventive and predictive maintenance programs; ensure compliance with safety and quality standards; and collaborate with production leadership to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability.

Essential Job Functions/Duties:

The primary duties consist of (but are not limited to) the following: 

• Lead by example to promote a culture of safety, reliability, and accountability
• Supervise and coordinate daily maintenance activities, ensuring timely completion of scheduled and emergency repairs.
• Assign and monitor work performed by maintenance technicians, providing technical guidance and training where needed.
• Develop and maintain preventive maintenance schedules and documentation for all equipment.
• Observe machine operation for machine malfunction and defects. 
• Troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues on production machinery.
• Set up controls and adjust settings for industrial/manufacturing machines 
• Read technical manuals, schematics, & blueprints 
• Demonstrate solid knowledge of: 
  • bearings, belts, conveyors, motors and drives, sensors, pneumatics, lighting, electrical controls, DC powered lifts, and PLC troubleshooting 
  • Industrial threading equipment  
  • Lubrication techniques and applications.  
  • Hydraulics and pneumatics. 
  • Electrical principles (basics) - AC/DC - 480V 3 phase 
  • Working knowledge of PLC's
• Perform safety checks to ensure safety devices are on and in working order (guarding and all safety equipment). 
• Perform quality checks and document (where applicable), using simple gages, Precision measuring devices and visual inspection. 
• Perform daily maintenance on machines and auxiliary equipment. 
• Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment, and storage areas in order to ensure compliance with safety regulations. 
• Follow safety rules and work procedures.

Physical/Cognitive Demands:

This is largely a physically active role including walking long distances (over uneven surfaces) to/within our production facility, lifting 50lbs or more, and standing for long periods. Position also requires bending, stooping, squatting or standing as necessary. Cognitive abilities required include deductive reasoning, information ordering, oral comprehension, oral expression, problem sensitivity, written comprehension, and written expression.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Hours are Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Evening and weekend work will be required as job duties demand.

Required Education and Experience:

1. High School Diploma or Equivalent

2. Trade School Certificate in Industrial Maintenance (or equivalent) or 4-6 years of experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.

Preferred Education and Experience:

1. Bilingual English/Spanish language skills is a plus
