The Specialty Product and Fresh Truffle Sales Specialist plays a critical role in promoting and selling the Company’s premium specialty products, with a particular focus on fresh truffles, and in building relationships with new and existing customers. This specialist will grow territory sales through new accounts and through strengthening relationships with current customers, providing expert knowledge and upholding BiRite’s standards in conducting business. The Specialty Product and Fresh Truffle Sales Specialist will report to the Director of Category Management. The Specialty Product and Fresh Truffle Sales Specialist will have specific inventory and reporting responsibilities to our partner fresh truffle supplier.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

• Achieve sales goals and objectives established by the Company for specialty products and fresh truffles.
• Regularly visit existing customers with basket of fresh truffles, demonstrating quality and current inventory selections.
• Work with the BiRite and Pacific Gourmet sales teams to open new accounts specifically targeting high-end restaurants, hotels, and specialty food retailers.
• Manage, grow, and maintain existing accounts, ensuring consistent sales and customer satisfaction for specialty items, especially fresh truffles.
• Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of specialty products, including sourcing, seasonality, handling, and culinary applications, with a strong emphasis on fresh truffles.
• Conduct regular in-person visits to build and maintain relationships, provide expert product demonstrations, and educate customers on the unique qualities and proper handling of specialty products, especially fresh truffles.
• Timely response to both internal & external customers on inquiries, orders, or pending items related to specialty products.
• Receive, process, and transmit customer orders, paying close attention to the specific requirements for perishable and high-value items like fresh truffles.
• Conduct a daily inventory of fresh truffle inventory, reporting to both BiRite and the partner fresh truffle supplier.
• Promptly respond to inquiries from customers that can include past, current, and pending orders for specialty items.
• Demonstrated initiative, urgency, commitment, and ability to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously, particularly with time-sensitive fresh truffle sales.
• Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• 3 years of outside sales experience in specialty foods, fine dining, or a related culinary field, preferred.
• Extensive knowledge and passion for specialty food products, with a strong understanding of fresh truffles (varieties, seasonality, handling, and culinary uses).
• Culinary or hospitality background with experience in high-end establishments is a significant plus.
• Must have a valid CA driver’s license, car insurance, and reliable vehicle.
• Geographical knowledge of the area assigned is required.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate the unique value of premium products.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Multilingualism is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

• Driving: The Specialty Product and Fresh Truffle Sales Specialist is required to travel to meet clients; they may spend a significant amount of time driving in the Bay Area's busy and congested roads, which can be physically demanding.
• Standing: The Specialty Product and Fresh Truffle Sales Specialist may spend long hours standing or walking around.
• Carrying and Lifting: The Specialty Product and Fresh Truffle Sales Specialist may need to move or lift up to 25lbs, carry delicate samples of specialty products, or other materials to meetings with customers or events.
• Repetitive Motions: The Specialty Product and Fresh Truffle Sales Specialist may spend a significant amount of time typing emails, sending text messages, or making phone calls, which can be physically demanding on their hands, wrists, and arms.

Work Conditions:

• This is a customer-facing role - ensure great customer service from warehouse to front door.
• Must be able to safely drive in adverse weather conditions.
• Ability to travel within and outside of designated territory.

Salary Range:

$80,000 - $110,000 per year DOE

Position:

Full time, Exempt

Schedule:

Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Must have Sunday availability and may be required to work some holidays.
