Position Overview
The Human Resources Intern is responsible for supporting general HR functions including the onboarding and offboarding of employees, management of HR administrative functions, collaborating with business leaders on recruitment efforts, maintaining compliance, and managing leave and workers’ compensation claims.
Key Responsibilities
Recruiting
- Conduct phone and Teams interviews with candidates, following a structured interview process to ensure consistency, fairness, and alignment with the role’s requirements.
- Collaborate with Hiring Managers on candidates by reviewing resumes, providing interview feedback, and discussing candidate strengths and areas of concern to support effective hiring decisions.
- Assist in recruiting efforts as needed, incl uding posting jobs, sourcing candidates, scheduling interviews, and supporting hiring events to ensure a smooth and efficient recruitment process.
- Coordinate new hire onboarding, including managing pre-employment screenings, scheduling orientation sessions, assisting with benefits enrollment, and ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience for incoming employees
- Manage employee offboarding activities including preparing departure letters, system out-processing, and conducting exit interviews
- Maintain personnel files and HRIS data with a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality
- Generate reports and track key HR metrics as needed
- Provide administrative support to the HR team and contribute to ongoing process improvements
- Ensure HR policies and practices comply with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
- Assist with audits and maintain up-to-date documentation on compliance related matters
- Support the development and communication of company policies and procedures
- Manage FMLA, ADA, and other leave programs in accorda nce with legal requirements and internal policies, including reviewing documentation, communicating with employees and managers, and ensuring timely and compliant administration of all leave types.
- Process workers’ compensation claims by gathering incident details, submitting necessary documentation, and coordinating with insurance provider
- Maintain accurate records related to employee leave and workplace injuries, ensuring all documentation is up-to-date and confidentially stored
- Take on special projects as needed, con tributing to cross-functional initiatives, process improvements, and strategic HR goals that support the evolving needs of the business.
- Respond to employee ad-hoc requests and exercise resourcefulness to help support any challenges our team faces throughout their day-to-day operations
- Serve as a primary point of contact for general Human Resources inquiries, delivering timely, accurate, and customer-focused guidance on policies, procedures, and available resources to employees acros s the organization.
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field
- Commitment to handling sensitive employee information with discretion
- Ability to perform at high levels in fast paced work environment and successfully adapt to changing priorities and work demands
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including advanced functions within Excel
