Job Title: Assembly (Level 1 – Level III)
Reports To: Production Supervisor
Job Type: Full-Time / Non- Exempt
Birdon America is a large Government/Commercial contractor of Marine vessels. We design, manufacture and service systems, components and provide integrated solutions for commercial and military workboats, water jet propulsion and other platforms.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
All Levels
- High School Diploma or GED
- Fabrication, welding, and repair of metal structures (both steel and aluminium)
- Understand and interpret drawings and specifications
- Diagnos issues and perform maintenance and repairs as directed
- Ensure work is is conducted according to quality system process and Inspection Test Plans
- Maintain a clean, tidy, and productive work environment
- Active participant in daily toolbox
- Work harmonioulsy with team and other Birdon employees and contractors
- Current drivers license
- Other duties as assigned
Level I - $25.36/hour
- Minimum, one (1) year experience in a mechanical assembly environment or demonstrated basic proficiency in assembling procedures.
Level II - $27.13/hour
- Minimum three (3) years’ experience in a mechanical assembly environment or demonstrated intermediate proficiency in assembling procedures.
- Document actions by completing production and quality forms
- Prepare work to be accomplished by studying assembly instruction, blueprint specifications and part lists
- Assembles components
Level III - $28.91 hour
- Minimum five (5) years’ experience in a mechanical assembly environment or demonstrated advanced proficiency in assembling procedures.
- Advanced mechanical skill.
- Document actions by completing production and quality forms
- Prepare work to be accomplished by studying assembly instruction, blueprint specifications and part lists
- Assembles components
- Accept responsibility for training and leading a small group of employees
Working Conditions
- Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment where exposure to moving mechanical parts, sharp cutting tools, dust, fumes and airborne particles, temperature extremes and elevated noise level.
- Employees must regularly lift and or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and or move more than 75 pounds.
- While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, stoop, kneel, climb, crouch, talk and hear.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to eye safety glasses, hearing protection and work boots.

The levels of this position are differentiated by increasing degrees of responsibilities, years of experience, professional skills, and quality of work. The level in which you qualify will be determined upon interview evaluation. Hourly pay rates are fixed.
