What are the responsibilities and job description for the Window Cleaning Technician position at Birdie Window Cleaning?
Birdie Window Cleaning is hiring its first technician.
We're a residential window cleaning company with 70 five-star Google reviews, serving the nicest neighborhoods in the Des Moines metro. Business is growing and we need someone to help keep up with demand.
What you'll do:
You'll clean windows on residential homes. No cold calling, no selling door to door. You show up, do great work on beautiful homes, and go home.
You'll start by working alongside the owner on every job. That's how you learn the craft, meet customers, and build confidence. Most people work alongside me for the first couple months, then transition to their own truck and schedule once they're ready.
A typical day is 4-6 homes, doing exterior and interior window cleaning plus screen and track cleaning.
No experience necessary. We train you on everything: technique, safety, equipment, and customer interaction.
What you'll earn:
This isn't a typical hourly gig. Your pay grows with your effort.
- $18/hr guaranteed minimum OR 20% commission on every job, whichever is higher
- 20% commission on any upsells (screens, tracks, etc.)
- 100% of tips are yours. Our customers are generous.
- $10 bonus for every five-star Google review you earn
On a typical day doing 3 jobs at $250 each, that's $150 in commission alone, before tips and bonuses.
What we provide:
- All equipment, tools, and cleaning supplies
- Company vehicle once you've earned your own route
- Paid training working directly with the owner
- Steady Monday-Friday schedule
- A straightforward job with real earning potential
Qualifications:

- Physically able to climb ladders (up to 24 ft) and work on your feet all day
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
