Product Owner

Birdi
Plymouth, MI Full Time
POSTED ON 4/3/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 5/19/2026
Position Summary

The motivated and detail-oriented Product Owner will lead the product ideation, development, and continuous improvement of products and features that power Birdi Pharmacy’s care management and specialty pharmacy operations. This role focuses on elevating patient care, optimizing pharmacy team efficiency, and enabling high quality reporting for regulatory and accreditation partners such as URAC and ACHC. The ideal candidate brings deep pharmacy operations knowledge, understands how call center, telephony, clinical care, and specialty workflows intersect, and can translate that complexity into intuitive product experiences for the patient. This is a highly autonomous role suited for a self starter who thrives in fast moving environments and can drive clarity, alignment, and delivery across cross functional teams.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Act as the voice of the user - pharmacists, technicians, call‑center agents, clinicians, and patients - ensuring the Birdi technology platform supports their needs and reduces friction.
  • Define and own the product vision, roadmap and agile ceremonies for assigned product(s).
  • Provide best practice recommendations that drive interoperability for Birdi’s care management pharmacy platform, Birdirx.com, Birdi’s internal CRM tool and Birdi’s pharmacy management system, ensuring alignment with clinical, operational, and business goals.
  • Translate complex pharmacy workflows - including call center operations, patient outreach, refill management, prior authorization, adherence programs, and clinical interventions - into clear product requirements and user stories.
  • Partner closely with pharmacy operations, clinical teams, and call center leadership to identify pain points, streamline processes, and design solutions that improve patient outcomes and operational efficiency.
  • Lead feature discovery and delivery from concept through launch, using data, user feedback, and operational insights to prioritize and iterate.
  • Ensure compliance ready reporting capabilities that support URAC, ACHC, and other accreditation or payer requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineering, design, analytics, and QA to ensure high quality execution and timely delivery of product enhancements.
  • Develop a deep understanding of Birdi telephony, patient engagement tools, current workflow orchestration and gaps to ensure seamless integration across systems.
  • Champion a data driven approach to measure product performance, operational impact, and patient care outcomes.
  • Operate with autonomy and ownership, proactively identifying opportunities, risks, and dependencies without waiting for direction.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Proven ability to build from scratch - comfortable operating in ambiguity, defining requirements with limited precedent, and driving 0 to 1 product delivery in a lean environment.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, able to identify issues, evaluate options, and propose sound solutions with minimal guidance.
  • Skilled at translating requirements into clear epics, user stories, tasks, and acceptance criteria.
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to manage multiple work items simultaneously while adapting to changing priorities.
  • Demonstrates accountability for assigned work and follows through on commitments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and roles.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to independently identify, track, and help resolve product or delivery issues.
  • Exposure to web, mobile, or application-based products, with openness and ability to learn new technologies and domains.
  • Support cross‑functional delivery by flexing into adjacent roles such as data product owner, scrum master, or release coordinator when needed to keep the team unblocked.
  • Experience working in or alongside small, high impact teams where responsibilities may span product ownership, data product oversight, scrum facilitation, and release coordination.
  • Familiarity with SaaS environments and the unique demands of building scalable, workflow heavy healthcare products.

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, engineering, pharmacy operations, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Seven to ten years of experience in product ownership or a closely related role, ideally within specialty pharmacy, care management, pharmacy operations technology, or pharmacy interoperability.
  • Demonstrated success managing the full product lifecycle - from discovery, ROI and business case definition through delivery, go to market and continuous improvement.
  • Prior experience in or specialty pharmacy, PBM, pharmaceutical services, or managed healthcare environments.
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, including hands on experience with tools such as Atlassian (Jira/Confluence) or similar.
  • Experience utilizing business intelligence platforms (Tableau, Looker) and/or writing and troubleshooting SQL queries to pull and dissect data.

Preferred Skill/Abilities

  • Testing experience within an organization that has utilized Rapid or Agile SDLC.
  • Product experience with OpenAI chatbot.
  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) / Certified SAFe Product Owner certification.
  • Usability and coding practices for accessibility (ADA/508 WCAG 2.0, etc.) to ensure web products meet accessibility standards.

Work Environment/Physical Requirements

  • Home-based office environment, with minimal exposure to excessive noise or adverse environmental issues, and occasional local and/or overnight travel, including exposure to heat, cold, and inclement weather conditions. Transportation for travel typically will include automobile and plane.
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time.
