Responsibilities of the Respiratory Therapist (RT):
Responsible for assessment, diagnostic and therapeutic interventions affecting the cardiopulmonary system for adults. Selects and administers the appropriate care, taking into consideration the age, development level and size of the patient. Provides a caring relationship that facilitates health and healing. Should be able to identify own limitations and seek appropriate resources, as needed.
Qualifications of the Respiratory Therapist:
Associate's Degree
1 year of experience
VA Respiratory Care Practitioner License
Respiratory Care Practitioner
BLS for Healthcare Providers, issued by AHA
PALS certification (Issued by American Heart Association Provider)
NBRC Credentials renewed and current for all applicable credentials ( RRT, RRT-NPS, CPFT, RPFT) (Minimum for new hires post 7/1/2021)
Pulmonary Function Lab Only: Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist CPT required within 6 months of hire
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS OF THE RESPIRATORY THERAPIST:
Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Therapy
