Canopy Wellness is preparing to open a new Residential Mental Health Treatment Center in St. Louis, focused on providing compassionate, evidence-based care for adults experiencing mental health and co-occurring disorders.
We are seeking a dependable and experienced Lead Behavioral Health Technician to support daily client care operations and help guide our Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) team. This role plays a critical part in maintaining a safe, structured, and supportive therapeutic environment for our clients.
The Lead Behavioral Health Technician will work closely with the nursing and clinical teams to ensure high-quality care, oversee daily BHT operations, and help foster a positive therapeutic milieu.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and support to the Behavioral Health Technician team
- Assist in coordinating daily client activities and therapeutic programming
- Monitor and support clients within the treatment milieu
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and facility policies
- Assist nursing and clinical staff with client observation, documentation, and behavioral support
- Help train and mentor new Behavioral Health Technicians
- Support de-escalation and crisis intervention when necessary
- Maintain accurate documentation of client observations and incidents
- Ensure a clean, organized, and safe treatment environment
- Serve as a communication liaison between BHT staff and leadership
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required (Associate or Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, or related field preferred)
- 2 years experience in behavioral health, mental health, residential treatment, or substance use treatment settings
- Prior experience in a lead or senior technician role preferred
- Knowledge of behavioral health best practices and crisis intervention techniques
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain calm and professional in high-stress situations
- CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain)
