Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills, excellent patient management abilities, and a thorough understanding of dental procedures and safety protocols. As a Dental Assistant, you will support dentists in delivering exceptional care, ensuring efficient clinic operations, and maintaining the highest standards of infection control and patient confidentiality.
Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including general dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental equipment, and ensuring all materials are ready for patient care.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring proper technique and adherence to safety standards.
- Manage patient records using electronic medical documentation systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft while maintaining clinical confidentiality policies.
- Perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency during procedures.
- Conduct patient management tasks including vital signs measurement, medical history updates, and patient education on oral health practices.
- Follow infection prevention management protocols by adhering to aseptic techniques and sterilization procedures for dental instruments and equipment.
Skills
- Proficiency in electronic health records
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and clinical procedures related to general dentistry and specialized fields like pediatric dentistry and oral surgery.
- Experience with dental x-ray techniques, medical imaging, and 3D scanners used in advanced diagnostics.
- Expertise in dental instrument processing, sterilization procedures, and infection control practices aligned with healthcare standards.
- Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently while maintaining a focus on patient comfort and safety.
- Familiarity with dental equipment operation including endodontic tools, prosthodontic devices, and dental sterilization units.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients of all ages, especially pediatric patients when necessary.
- Knowledge of healthcare infection prevention and control policies as well as medical documentation standards for accurate record keeping.
