- Schedule patient appointments accurately across multiple EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, and others.
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and coordinate insurance verifications for Medicare, Medicaid, and private payers.
- Manage patient intake processes by collecting necessary medical information, updating records, and reviewing documentation for completeness.
- Maintain clear communication with patients via phone, email, or in-person to confirm appointments, provide instructions, and answer inquiries with excellent phone etiquette.
- Collaborate with medical staff to coordinate care plans and ensure timely follow-up on scheduled procedures or tests.
- Review medical records for accuracy and completeness; update or file documents in compliance with HIPAA regulations and health information management standards.
- Utilize EMR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or Dentrix to document scheduling activities efficiently and accurately.
- Proven experience in medical scheduling within a clinical or dental setting; clinic experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, and medical billing procedures.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix, Eaglesoft or similar platforms.
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office suite; typing speed of at least 10-key for data entry accuracy.
- Ability to verify insurance benefits and perform insurance verification tasks confidently.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and data security at all times.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
