Key responsibilities and duties of a retail logistics job include:
- Inventory Management: Monitoring and controlling stock levels across various warehouses and stores to prevent stockouts or overstocking. This involves real-time tracking of inventory using technology like barcode scanners or RFID.
- Warehousing and Storage: Overseeing the efficient storage and handling of products within warehouses and distribution centers, including organizing layouts to optimize space and streamline picking and packing processes.
- Order Fulfillment: Managing the process of receiving customer orders, picking the items from storage, securely packing them, and preparing them for shipment.
- Transportation and Distribution: Planning the movement of goods, which includes selecting cost-effective carriers, optimizing delivery routes, and managing a fleet of vehicles to ensure timely delivery to retail stores or directly to customers.
