Position Title: Library Media Consultant
Qualifications:
K-12 Library Media Specialist (Endorsement 0036) Or Library Media Coordinator (Endorsement Code 0035)
2-4 Hours Monthly
Bachelor’s degree in education or comparable degree.NH Teacher certification in Library Media
Strong knowledge of library media instructions.
Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience for the appropriate grade levels (K-6).
A valid driver’s license is required.
Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
Knowledge of elementary school curriculum and concepts.
Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
Reports to: Principal/Special Education Administrator
Position Summary: The successful candidate for Birch Behavioral school will ensure inclusive learning opportunities that enable students to access teaching material. This individual will ensure delivery of specified course content, uses effective strategies for teaching, interacts positively, professionally, showing respect for students while actively engaging students in lessons that are planned around grade level expectations in the area of library media while promoting literacy and learning. PLC availability is part of this consultation model.
Responsibilities of the Position:
In person consultation on-site minimum 2x per month- required.
Provides materials and curriculum that are engaging and age appropriate for students (K-6).
Regular and predictable attendance and presence at respective center is an essential requirement of position.
Provides individual and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students with varying intellectual and artistic abilities, and to accommodate a variety of instructional activities.
Provides learning experiences in the area of library media guided by the NH state curriculum guidelines and district standards and requirements, while creating an environment that is conducive to a student’s learning and involvement.
Responsible for overseeing and supporting all critical functions of the school library and materials.
Maintain and organize books and other related materials.
Provide instruction on how to use the library, resources, and other technologies to staff and students.
Collaborate with SPED teachers and SPED consultants when necessary.
Coordinates, organizes, and hosts book fairs and hosts visiting authors when appropriate.
Assist students in locating reference and other instructional materials, and in developing knowledge, skills, and abilities to gain independence and fully utilize the library materials and resources.
Works with students individually and in small groups when necessary.
Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.
Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction.
Prepare and train SPED teacher on standards-based science lessons in Grades K-6 with the support of classroom teachers.
Work collaboratively with district level staff to review and revise science curriculum and coordinate ordering and purchase of materials.
Collaborate with classroom teachers and special education staff to understand students’ needs.
A qualified applicant will be knowledgeable in the content area standards and demonstrate a commitment to bringing learning to life for students of all ability levels.
