Purpose:
The Microbiologist Lab Specialist has a strong foundation in microbiology and familiarity with analytical techniques. This role involves supporting fermentation manufacturing and laboratory operations while ensuring compliance with safety regulations and quality standards. This position is essential in supporting the lab's microbiological functions and contributing to the overall success of our laboratory operations.
Accountabilities:

Laboratory Operations: Assist in daily laboratory activities, including environmental monitoring, sample plating, culture production, and organism library maintenance.
- Ensure timely completion of projects.
- Team Support: Collaborate with laboratory staff to foster a cooperative environment and support professional growth.
- Method Support: Aid in the development, validation, and optimization of microbiological methods, including axenic culturing and plating.
- Quality Assurance: Follow regulatory requirements and maintain quality control and laboratory safety protocols.
- Data Handling: Assist in collecting, evaluating, and interpreting experimental data and generating reports.
- Equipment Maintenance: Support the maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment.
- Adherence to Procedures: Follow all standard operating procedures and relevant compliance requirements.
- Team Participation: Participate in team meetings and maintain a positive and respectful attitude in all interactions.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Adhere to all PPE policies and complete required checklists.
- Communication: Notify management of any issues and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biochemistry, or a related field.
- Required Work Experience: Minimum 2-4 years of hands-on experience in a microbiological laboratory setting.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in aseptic techniques and microorganism culturing. Familiarity with analytical equipment and techniques is a plus.
- Knowledge: Understanding laboratory safety regulations and quality management systems
