Position Summary
The Category Merchandise Analyst supports category growth through data-driven analysis of sales, inventory, customer behavior, and market trends. This role partners with Design, Product Development, Sales, Ecommerce, and Planning teams to provide insights and recommendations that optimize product assortments, guide product selection decisions, and support strategic business objectives across wholesale, retail, and ecommerce channels.
Merchandise & Business Analysis
- Analyze sales, margin, inventory, and category performance to identify trends, opportunities, and actionable recommendations that improve revenue, profitability, and inventory productivity
- Monitor key performance indicators across channels, including sales, inventory metrics, conversion rate, click-through rate, average order value, and other ecommerce engagement metrics
- Develop forecasts, reporting, and business insights to support planning and decision-making
Category & Assortment Management
- Own assortment recommendations for assigned categories, leveraging sales performance, consumer insights, market trends, and inventory analytics to determine product selection, assortment mix, and lifecycle strategies
- Partner with Design and Product Development teams to identify category opportunities, assortment gaps, and product priorities that align with customer demand and business objectives
- Develop recommendations related to pricing, promotions, and product launches to support category growth and profitability
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Product Development, Ecommerce, Marketing, Planning, Sales, and Operations teams to support merchandising strategies and business objectives
- Present findings, insights, and recommendations to stakeholders and leadership
Qualifications - Required
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Merchandising, Marketing, Retail Management, Analytics, or similar
- 3–5 years of experience in merchandising, category management, buying, planning, ecommerce merchandising, business analytics, or related disciplines
- Strong analytical, financial, and problem-solving skills
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and reporting tools
- Ability to translate data into actionable business recommendations
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
Qualifications - Preferred
- Experience in ecommerce, omnichannel retail, or consumer products
- Experience with Power BI, Tableau, Looker, Google Analytics, or similar business intelligence tools
- Experience in apparel, accessories, licensed products, or related categories
