Position Summary
The Warehouse & Materials Manager is responsible for the strategic leadership and execution of all warehouse operations, inventory control, materials management, receiving, shipping, and internal logistics functions. This role serves as a key member of the Operations leadership team and is accountable for ensuring material availability, inventory accuracy, warehouse efficiency, and on-time customer fulfillment.
This position requires a proven leader capable of driving operational excellence across warehouse and materials functions while developing scalable processes, leading high-performing teams, and supporting the organization's growth objectives. The Warehouse & Materials Manager will partner closely with Production, Procurement, Planning, Quality, and Finance to ensure uninterrupted operations and effective inventory management.
Key Responsibilities
Warehouse & Logistics Leadership
- Direct all warehouse operations including receiving, storage, inventory control, shipping, transportation coordination, and finished goods management.
- Develop and execute warehouse strategies that improve productivity, service levels, inventory accuracy, and operational efficiency.
- Optimize warehouse layout, storage utilization, labor allocation, and material flow throughout the facility.
- Ensure timely and accurate receipt, storage, movement, and shipment of materials and finished goods.
- Establish operational controls and performance standards across all warehouse activities.
Materials Management & Inventory Control
- Own inventory management strategy, inventory accuracy, cycle count programs, and physical inventory execution.
- Partner with Procurement and Production teams to ensure uninterrupted material availability while minimizing inventory investment.
- Analyze inventory trends, identify risks, and implement corrective actions to improve performance.
- Drive improvements in inventory turns, working capital utilization, and inventory accuracy.
- Lead material flow initiatives that support production efficiency and customer service objectives.
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead and develop supervisors, team leads, and warehouse/materials personnel.
- Establish performance expectations and accountability measures aligned with operational goals.
- Build a culture focused on safety, quality, continuous improvement, and employee engagement.
- Develop succession plans and talent development initiatives within the operation.
Continuous Improvement & Operational Excellence
- Lead Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives across warehouse and materials operations.
- Utilize data-driven decision-making to improve productivity, reduce waste, and enhance service performance.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions related to inventory discrepancies, material shortages, and operational inefficiencies.

Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree preferred in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations, Business, Engineering, or related field.
- 8 years of progressive leadership experience within warehouse, materials, logistics, or supply chain operations in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience managing both warehouse operations and inventory/materials management functions.
- Demonstrated success leading supervisors and larger hourly workforces.
- Strong ERP/MRP systems experience.
- Proven track record improving inventory accuracy, operational efficiency, and service levels.
- Strong analytical, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred
- APICS CPIM, CSCP, or related certification.
- Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
- Experience supporting multi-shift manufacturing operations.
- Experience leading organizational growth, warehouse expansions, or operational transformation initiatives.
