Responsibilities
- Design, optimize, and execute cell-based and biochemical assays to support drug discovery and SAR screening programs.
- Prepare reagents, cell cultures, compounds, and assay materials with high reproducibility and accuracy.
- Independently plan and perform experiments while following established procedures and identifying deviations from accepted practices when necessary.
- Analyze, interpret, document, and present experimental data to project teams and management using appropriate software and data analysis tools.
- Develop, troubleshoot, and improve assay workflows for screening and mechanistic studies.
- Support assay transfer, validation, and implementation for client-sponsored programs.
- Operate and maintain laboratory instrumentation, including plate readers, liquid handling systems, and imaging platforms.
- Maintain accurate and compliant laboratory documentation using ELN/LIMS systems.
- Contribute to study planning, scientific discussions, and multidisciplinary project execution.
- Prepare technical summaries, reports, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Support general laboratory operations, including inventory management, ordering supplies, and process improvement initiatives.
- Ensure work is conducted in compliance with SOPs, safety policies, and applicable regulatory standards.
- Contribute to a collaborative team environment and assist with training or mentoring junior staff as needed.
- Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, or a related field; OR Master’s degree with relevant industry experience; OR Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of relevant industry experience in biotech, pharma, or CRO environments.
- Strong hands-on experience with cell-based and biochemical assays, including assays performed in 96- and 384-well formats for screening and SAR studies.
- Solid understanding of molecular and cell biology techniques, including mammalian cell culture and compound handling. Experience analyzing and interpreting biological data using appropriate software tools (e.g., GraphPad Prism).
- Familiarity with assay detection platforms including luminescence, fluorescence, absorbance, radiometric, imaging-based, and/or high-content assays is preferred.
- Experience with automated liquid handling systems, assay automation, and high-throughput screening workflows is highly desirable.
- Experience with ELN/LIMS platforms and Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Experience working in CRO or client-facing project environments is a plus.
- Strong organizational, written, verbal, and presentation skills. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
- This role involves working in laboratory and office environments. Candidates must be able to:
- Work with biohazardous materials and chemicals in compliance with applicable safety standards.
- Perform routine laboratory procedures involving biological samples and research materials.
- Wear required PPE including gloves, lab coat, respirator, and eye/face protection.
- Stand, sit, and walk for extended periods; crouch, bend, twist, and reach as needed; perform tasks involving repetitive motions.
- Routinely lift, push, or pull up to 10 lbs. Work under standard laboratory environmental conditions.
- Possess visual acuity sufficient to perform detailed laboratory work and data review.
