In NC, we operate three pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities that are responsible for fulfilling different steps in our injectable and oral treatment supply chains. Our newer Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) facility in Clayton, NC sits on 825,000 square-feet of state-of-the-art equipment, and houses the Fermentation, Recovery and Purification in the production of ingredients for Novo Nordisk’s innovative oral products. The Position
Calibrate, maintain, and repair measuring equipment on schedule & in accordance with corporate & local requirements. Provide troubleshooting, problem solving & project support for measuring equipment site-wide.
Relationships
Reports to Manager.
Essential Functions
Responsible for execution of planned/unplanned calibrations & preventative maintenance of measuring equipment
Calibrates & repairs instrumentation such as: temperature, pressure, conductivity, level, humidity, pH, flow, density, mass & electrical measuring equipment
Installs, connects wiring, configures, downloads, programs, & tests measuring instruments & critical safety devices
Executes work according to schedule & department plan
Accurately & legibly records all activities in appropriate documentation including issues & completes work orders as required while maintaining equipment master data
Accurately performs complex mathematical calculations relating to calibrations
Operates & handles calibration working standards with care & expertise in accordance with local requirements
Attains & maintains required training & safety certifications by maintaining training qualifications on time
Identifies & initiates deviations and/or failures per proper procedures
Evaluates measuring equipment performance & responds to potential issues
Provides support to operations & process owners for measuring equipment
Contributes to process confirmations & KPI reporting
Follow all safety & environmental requirements in the performance of duties
Other duties as assigned
Physical Requirements
Moves equipment &/or supplies weighing up to 33 pounds within the facility using various body positions. Routinely operates & inspects manufacturing equipment using hands. Ability to be on feet for up to a 12-hour shift. May require corrected vision to 20/25 based on role. May require color vision based on role. Occasionally ascends/descends a ladder. May be required to work at elevated heights. Occasionally works around odorous &/or hazardous materials. May be required to wear latex gloves. Occasionally performs critical job functions in extremely cold work environments. Occasionally positions oneself within confined spaces for inspection, repair & maintenance of equipment. Ability to work in loud noise environments with hearing protection. Occasionally works in outdoor weather conditions. Able to pass a driving exam for powered industrial trucks. Does not require a valid drivers license.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Minimum of one three (3) years of relevant metrology/calibration work experience or relevant technical experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
Knowledgeable of Calibration, Instrumentation & Controls systems, Electro-Mechanical systems & Electronics which operate in conjunction with communication protocols such as HART, DeviceNet, Modbus, Ethernet, etc. preferred
Experience using electronic calibration management systems such as SAP, Blue Mountain RAM, ProCal, MAXIMO, etc. a plus
Able to interpret & apply P&IDs, schematics, wiring diagrams & other technical documents a plus
Experience working in a team environment, with excellent communication and organizational skills required
Demonstrates logical planning for task execution & follow-up a plus
Demonstrates a systematic approach to problem solving & troubleshooting a plus
Basic computer skills preferred
