The Position

The Associate Marketing Pipeline Strategy Director plays a pivotal role in developing commercial strategy for early-stage pharmaceutical products in NN’s cardiometabolic pipeline (programs in Phase 1, 2, and 3). This role focuses on establishing early commercial strategies to maximize product potential, by collaborating closely with clinical and medical, market access and policy, insights, and global commercial teams. This role also helps facilitate continuity of knowledge to U.S. brand teams at the appropriate time. This role serves as a commercial point of contact for global commercial asset team.

Relationships

Reports to the Senior Director Marketing, Future Portfolio & Pipeline Strategy, Cardiometabolics. Collaborates with cross-functional teams across NNI and Global, including marketing, medical, R&D, regulatory affairs, finance, Market Access, policy, insights, product supply, forecasting, and other relevant departments to ensure holistic strategy development and readiness for Governance interactions. Provides regular updates to the US and Global Therapy Area teams.

Essential Functions

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Planning: Help the Sr Dir foster early strategic alignment across cross-functional teams including marketing, market access, and medical to ensure a cohesive approach to early product commercialization. Collaborate with global commercial teams as the point of contact

Market Assessment and Opportunity Analysis: Oversee completion of thorough market assessments and opportunity analyses to identify target patient populations, unmet needs, and competitive positioning strategies

Target Product Profile (TPP) Development Support: Provide strategic input for TPPs, which then inform strategic input for clinical trial and regulatory strategy, to ensure alignment with commercialization goals. Collaborate with clinical and regulatory teams to understand clinical data / patient outcomes, identify market opportunities, address regulatory requirements, and shape product development strategies

Regulatory Compliance: Work closely with regulatory affairs to ensure early commercialization strategies comply with regulatory guidelines and industry standards

Deliver Early Commercial Strategy: Create early commercialization strategy per pipeline product, describing Where to Play, How to Win, and What to Do, that will maximize the value of the product and serve appropriate patients in the US. This includes: early brand vision, brand positioning, priority customer segments, messaging, value prop, and life cycle plan

Commercialization Transition: Facilitate the smooth transition of product strategy (from pipeline development) into TA Brand teams at the appropriate time. Ensure continuity of market research, therapy area knowledge, decision processes, and ongoing TA development activities during pre-launch years. Also, transfer knowledge between clinical development teams and marketing brand/therapy area teams, ensuring clinical insights, patient profiles, and early competitive positioning strategies are transferred to appropriate teams, to maximize product potential

Project Management and Coordination: coordinate transition between clinical development and commercialization teams, ensuring milestones are met. Identify and mitigate potential risks or challenges during the transition process, proactively addressing issues to minimize disruptions and ensure continuity of product development efforts

Continuous Improvement and Optimization: Develop continuous improvement initiatives to optimize the product transition process, implementing best practices, tools, and methodologies to streamline workflows and enhance efficiency

Physical Requirements

Approximately 20-30% overnight travel.

Qualifications

Requires a Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree preferred

Requires 10 years of experience, including product marketing, product launch, product management, pipeline strategy development, new product planning, or related roles within the pharmaceutical industry

Requires knowledge of pharmaceutical regulatory requirements

Requires knowledge of drug development processes and requirements

Requires expert knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry, including competitive market dynamics, and trends, especially within preferred

Strategic mindset with ability to develop and execute innovative commercial strategies aligned with NNI objectives and market opportunities

Strong planning and organizational skills with high attention to detail and proven track record of results and follow up

Ability to manage complexity, including the management of work across competing priorities, functions, and time zones

Excellent written and verbal communication and stakeholder management skills, with ability to communicate to/with and influence senior leaders and collaborate with cross-functional teams across the organization

Project management skills, with the ability to lead and coordinate complex initiatives involving multiple stakeholders

Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others

Embodies leadership behaviors, including authenticity, servant leadership, will, empathy, decisiveness, and driving focus and simplicity

The base compensation range for this position is $152,700 to $267,300. Base compensation is determined based on a number of factors. This position is also eligible for a company bonus based on individual and company performance. Novo Nordisk offers long-term incentive compensation and or company vehicles depending on the position's level or other company factors.
