What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Support Specialist position at Bios Group?
At Bios, we take pride in being an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) company, which means every team member is not just an employee, but a co-owner. This shared ownership structure empowers employees to build wealth through company shares while fostering a collaborative, growth-oriented workplace. We believe employee ownership fuels innovation, boosts job satisfaction, and creates a culture where your hard work directly impacts your future and the company’s success.
As a Bios Youth Specialist, you’re more than a caregiver. You're a mentor, advocate, and part of a child’s support system. Youth Specialists provide therapeutic, structured, and loving care to youth under the age of 18 with autism, working directly in their homes to help them build independence and thrive in their communities.
This role involves supporting each child’s physical, emotional, educational, and social development while creating a family-style, nurturing home environment. Youth Specialists work closely with the Department of Human Services (DHS) and the Bios team to ensure holistic care tailored to each child’s unique strengths and challenges.
Key responsibilities include:
- Foster positive, therapeutic relationships between youth, caregivers, and support teams
- Support daily living skills and personal growth in the home and community
- Provide behavioral and emotional support tailored to each youth’s needs
- Encourage community engagement, social inclusion, and self-help activities
- Act as a stable, consistent caregiver in the home environment
- Collaborate with professionals, educators, families, and DHS to support overall development
- Remind and assist with self-administration of medication (with proper training)
- Document services and observations accurately and in a timely manner
- Perform light housekeeping tasks such as laundry, cleaning, and bed making
- Plan meals, shop for groceries, prepare and serve food, and assist with clean-up
- Accompany youth to appointments and transport them as needed
- Carry out other duties as assigned to support the child’s well-being and progress
This is an hourly, hands-on position that reports directly to the Bios Child Support Program Manager. As a Youth Specialist at Bios, you join a team where your work changes lives, where you’re personally invested in the success of every child and the company.
