Key Responsibilities
- Core Accounting: Execute day-to-day accounting operations, including General Ledger maintenance, Accounts Payable/Receivable, and payroll processing.
- Month-End Close: Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring all reconciliations are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Tax Support: Assist in the preparation of corporate and partnership tax filings; help track and apply federal, state, and local tax requirements.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare preliminary financial statements and budget-to-actual variance reports for review by leadership.
- Process Improvement: Assist in documenting and implementing internal controls and standard operating procedures (SOPs) as operations move in-house.
- Cash Management: Monitor daily cash flow and assist with budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Compliance & Audit: Prepare workpapers for external auditors and tax advisors; maintain organized digital records for all financial transactions.
- Data Analysis: Use Excel and ERP tools to identify trends and provide insights that support departmental decision-making.
What We’re Looking For:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Experience: 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience (Public accounting or corporate experience both welcomed).
- Technical Skills: Strong foundational knowledge of GAAP.
- Systems: Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or Sage) and Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.).
- Mindset: A "builder" mentality—comfortable navigating the ambiguity of moving functions from an external firm to an internal department.
- Certification: CPA candidate or active CPA.
- Industry: Experience in staffing, professional services, or life sciences.
- Tax Exposure: Familiarity with multi-state sales/service tax and partnership structures.
- Payroll: Experience working with payroll funding or factoring partners.
