Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounts Receivable (AR) Specialist with a strong background in medical billing and Medicaid account management. This role will focus heavily on A/R clean-up, aging resolution, and denial management — specifically related to Medicaid and managed care plans across multiple states. The ideal candidate will have experience reviewing and correcting claim denials, interpreting remark and adjustment codes, and resubmitting claims accurately and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Review aging reports and identify outstanding claims with Medicaid and other payers.
- Research, correct, and resolve claim denials and rejections.
- Interpret remark codes (CARC/RARC) to determine appropriate resubmission or appeal actions.
- Prepare and submit corrected claims, resubmissions, or appeals as needed.
- Monitor trends in denials and collaborate with the billing team to reduce recurring issues.
- Ensure compliance with Medicaid guidelines and payer-specific policies.
- Maintain accurate documentation in billing software and internal tracking systems.
- Communicate effectively with clinics, payers, and team members to ensure timely resolution.
Qualifications
- 2 years of experience in medical billing, A/R follow-up, or revenue cycle management (orthotics/prosthetics or DME experience preferred).
- Strong working knowledge of Medicaid billing rules and managed care processes.
- Experience with claim remark codes, denial reasons, and resubmission procedures.
- Proficiency in billing software and electronic claim submission platforms.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with OPIE or similar billing systems a plus
- Multi-state Medicaid familiarity (IL, IN, MI, OH, TX, WI preferred).
- Understanding of payer-specific edits and compliance standards.
