The Assistant Controller is a high-impact leadership role within our fast-paced, private equity-backed medical device contract manufacturing organization. This individual will serve as a primary partner to the Corporate Controller, driving the financial discipline and reporting excellence required to support our aggressive growth trajectory.
We are seeking a technically proficient accounting professional who balances the rigor of a top-tier public accounting background (Big 4 preferred) with the agility needed in a PE-backed environment. The ideal candidate is a proactive and dynamic leader, dedicated to accelerating financial reporting cycles while maintaining an uncompromising control environment. Beyond the numbers, you must be a sophisticated communicator capable of translating complex financial results into clear narratives for executive leadership and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities
- Accelerate Month-End and Year-End Close: Lead the charge in shortening close cycles through process automation, standardizing workpapers, and eliminating reporting bottlenecks.
- Oversee the general ledger and consolidation of financial data to ensure all reporting is timely, accurate, and compliant with U.S. GAAP.
- Deliver high-quality financial reporting and variance analysis that provides "real-time" insights into business performance for the Corporate Controller, CFO, and operations.
- Prepare and present financial results and operational insights to executive leadership and other key stakeholders.
- Act as a bridge between the finance department and departmental heads, ensuring financial transparency across the organization.
- Synthesize complex accounting data into concise, actionable summaries for executive and board-level review.
- Design, implement, and maintain a robust internal control framework tailored to a high-growth private company.
- Champion a culture of "audit readiness," ensuring all documentation and processes are prepared for rigorous external review and future corporate milestones.
- Lead initiatives to strengthen the safeguarding of assets and data integrity across all manufacturing and corporate functions.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Engineering, and Supply Chain to optimize inventory accuracy, cycle counting, and E&O reserves.
- Analyze manufacturing variances and COGS to identify margin expansion opportunities and production efficiencies.
- Partner with IT to ensure ERP systems are fully leveraged to support scaling operations.
- Supervise and mentor the accounting team, fostering a high-performance culture that values accuracy, speed, and continuous improvement.
- Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5 years of progressive accounting experience. Public accounting experience is strongly preferred (Big 4 or large regional firm).
- Mastery of U.S. GAAP and internal control principles within a complex, multi-entity environment.
- Advanced Excel capabilities and proficiency in tier-1 or tier-2 ERP systems.
- Experience operating within a private equity-backed or high-growth manufacturing environment.
- Industry Background: Familiarity with medical device contract manufacturing or highly regulated production environments.
- Ability to communicate with confidence and clarity to senior-level stakeholders.
- Proven track record of partnering with non-finance departments to drive business results.
- A "hands-on" leader who can pivot from detailed technical accounting to high-level strategic support.
- A drive to meet tight deadlines without sacrificing accuracy or control integrity.
- Spanish speaking is a plus as we have international operations; however, this is not required.
