EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY: Post-doctoral Research Associate
The Biomedical Research Institute (BRI) is an independent nonprofit organization which houses the Schistosomiasis Resource Center and the BRI Biorepository. In the 70 years since its founding, BRI has made seminal contributions to the laboratory maintenance of Schistosoma spp. life cycles; S. mansoni schistosomula ultrastructure, and cryopreservation techniques. BRI has supported schistosomiasis research through the distribution of Schistosoma spp. reagents and molecular products to investigators worldwide. BRI is committed to supporting scientific research that benefits under-resourced communities impacted by infectious diseases.
BRI invites applications for a full-time Post-doctoral Research Associate in the area of schistosomiasis, parasitology, and/or infectious diseases. Applicants must have a PhD or equivalent and a commitment to pursue funding opportunities and training grants. Candidates are experienced in cellular and molecular biology; mammalian cell culture; qRT-PCR; cytokine profiling, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, animal modeling, and in vitro viability assays. Successful candidates will demonstrate research accomplishments and the capacity to conduct an independent research program.
Qualifications
- PhD or equivalent
- Publication(s) in peer-reviewed journals
- History of collaborative research projects and/or partnerships
- Excellent analytical, writing and verbal/communication skills
Responsibilities
- Lead experimental design and research objectives utilizing in vitro and in vivo models of schistosomiasis
- Identify funding opportunities in infectious diseases; manage submission timelines, applications, and objectives
- Develop new techniques and protocols to advance research objectives
- Maintain accurate data files, laboratory records, inventories, and logbooks
- Direct the preparation of data for presentations at scientific meetings; author technical reports & publications
- Manage laboratory annual permits, certifications, accreditations and regulatory compliance reports
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the PI
