About The Department

The Department of Human Genetics is the home within the Division of Biological Sciences for the study of basic principles of genetics and genomics as applied to human evolution, health, and disease. We provide broad training in field work, experimental genetics and genomics, statistical and population genetics, bioinformatics, and clinical molecular genetics. Our faculty bridge between basic and clinical research, and perform studies in people as well as in animal and cell models, and train students for careers in academia, industry, and medicine. The highly focused and integrated research in HG has resulted in extensive networks of collaboration among our faculty, as well as with faculty in other departments and divisions of the university.

Job Summary

The Zhang Lab, studies fundamental mechanisms of brain development with the ultimate goal of diagnosing and treating neurological disorders. Current research centers on Neuron types in the cerebral cortex, RNA splicing and neural development and Neurodevelopmental disorders. This position will engage in research activities involving fundamental questions in brain development and translational studies of brain disorders.

Responsibilities

  • Performs experiments and collects and analyzes data. Participates in the promotion of a research project.
  • Participates in the preparation and writing of grant applications and reports, and co-authors/authors scientific research manuscripts.
  • Collaborates on development of new research projects with academic and community-based organizations.
  • May present work at scientific meetings.
  • Performs other related work as needed.

Education

Minimum Qualifications

Work Experience

Minimum requirements include a PhD in related field.

Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through < 2 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

  • Previous experience in the fields of molecular biology and computational biology.
