Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

We are hiring a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) for one of our clients in DeLand, FL.

Job Description

• Staff school health room, perform health evaluations and administer first aid with referral to the Nursing Supervisor as needed.
• Administer prescription medications in accordance with policy, procedures and other governing rules.
• Maintain supplies and keep health room and work area clean and neat.
• Assist in the management of health problem referrals.
• Assist in the provision of routine health screenings, referrals and follow-up of students.
• Review and interpret student health records for compliance to Florida Statutes.
• Maintain appropriate and accurate documentation of all treatments, procedures, and medications.
• Other duties as assigned by the Principal or Nursing Supervisor.
  
  

Education & Experience Required

• High School diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent
• Successful completion of a training program to become a medical assistant or a certified nursing assistant
• Two (2) years of experience in providing nursing or direct patient care services of a medical nature in a public health, hospital, clinic, infirmary, or nursing/convalescent home preferred
• Hold current CPR and first aid certification
• Possess a valid Florida Driver's License; if a holder of any other valid US state-issued Driver's License, agree to acquire a Florida Driver's License within thirty (30) days of employment, except in a case where accommodation is required
  
  

Skills Required

• Ability to administer medications safely and accurately
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of student health issues
• Ability to communicate clearly with parents, physicians, other health care workers, faculty and school administrators
• Ability to communicate with students on their cognitive level
• Ability to assist in the provision of health assessments
• Demonstrated knowledge of Infection Control Principles and Universal Precautions.
