Job Summary:
The Biohazard Remediation Technician will play a crucial field-based role, requiring travel to various sites where trauma and biohazard remediation are needed. This is not a lab-based role; rather, technicians must be prepared to drive to locations across the region and perform on-site remediation. Technicians will manage, remediate, and meticulously clean scenes affected by trauma and hazardous materials, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Scene Management:
- Respond to emergency calls for trauma and biohazard remediation.
- Establish and secure the work area to prevent contamination and ensure safety.
- Conduct thorough assessments of the scene to determine remediation needs.
- Biohazard and Trauma Remediation:
- Perform detailed cleaning and neutralization of areas affected by trauma or biohazards, including bloodborne pathogens and other contaminants.
- Safely handle and dispose of hazardous materials and biohazardous waste according to regulations.
- Utilize specialized equipment and cleaning agents to restore affected areas to a safe condition.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Document the condition of the scene and the remediation process.
- Communicate findings and progress to clients and management, providing updates as needed.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring all equipment and supplies are properly used and stored.
- Customer Service:
- Provide compassionate and professional service to clients, addressing their concerns and needs with sensitivity and respect.
- Educate clients on the remediation process and provide guidance on any follow-up actions required.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in biohazard remediation or a related field is a plus.
- Experience:
- Previous professional remediation experience.
- Experience with specialized cleaning equipment and safety procedures is an advantage.
- Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion and professionalism.
- Knowledge of safety practices and protocols related to biohazard and trauma remediation.
- Good communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with clients and team members.
- Ability to work in physically demanding environments and handle hazardous materials safely.
- Certifications:
- Relevant certifications considered a plus but not required.
Work Environment:
- Travel Requirements: This is a field-based position that requires regular travel to work sites. Candidates must have reliable transportation and the ability to travel locally and, occasionally, out of state as needed.
- Physical Demands: Due to the nature of the Company’s work, the essential functions of a Company employee include the following physical requirements:
- Ability to drive to and from work sites across the region.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
- Ability to work at ceiling heights and work in tight spaces.
- Ability to work with and around cleaning agents.
- Ability to don, doff, and work in personal protective equipment.
- Schedule: Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed.
