Reptile Care & Retail Specialist

Bio Boutique is looking for an experienced, highly motivated Reptile Care & Retail Specialist to join our team.

• Caring for and maintaining the reptiles. plants and other animals housed at the shop.
• Representing Bio Boutique's emphasis on responsible, ethical animal keeping and education.

Approximately 20 hours per week — Animal Collection & Feeder Colony

The ideal candidate will:

• Have professional animal-care experience with reptiles and/or other substantial animal collections.
• Understand husbandry beyond basic pet ownership.
• Be comfortable making day-to-day decisions independently
• Be a self-starter who sees what needs to be done and does it

• Have strong attention to detail
• Be organized and capable of maintaining records and routines
• Be comfortable interacting with customers and educating them about reptile care
• Be comfortable lifting, carrying, loading, and unloading animals, supplies, enclosures, feed, and other materials

• Be comfortable working in an environment where cleanliness and biosecurity are important

EXPERIENCE

This is not an entry-level position.

Candidates should have meaningful professional or equivalent hands-on experience working with animals.

Experience in environments such as:

• Zoos
• Reptile parks or educational facilities
• Professional reptile breeding operations
• Large private reptile collections
• Wildlife or animal sanctuaries
• Farms or livestock operations
• Veterinary or veterinary-support environments
• Animal research or educational facilities
• Pet stores or exotic-animal facilities

is strongly preferred.

We are interested in what you can actually do—not simply how long you've owned pets. Candidates should be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of animal husbandry, safe handling, sanitation, observation, and day-to-day collection management.

WHY BIO BOUTIQUE?

Bio Boutique is a different kind of reptile store. We combine a retail environment with professional animal care, naturalistic and bioactive husbandry, education, and a working animal collection. Bio Boutique consists of two and a half people, the definition of a small business! It all started as a hobby and we maintain that essence to this day- we want to have fun, we enjoy what we do and we hope that you would too.

We're looking for someone who wants to be part of the operation, not someone who simply wants a job working around animals.

If you have professional animal-care experience, enjoy working independently, take animal welfare seriously, and want a position where your skills are actually used, we'd like to hear from you.

Please do not apply if your only experience is keeping a few personal pets. We are specifically seeking someone with professional-level or substantial large-collection animal-care experience.
